reply to FLO

Hi FLORENCE!!

how're u ??
spring's here!! must be SO beautiful!!

jealous =p
.
.
.
.
.
actually i read "mere Christianity"..though i did not finish it..stopped somewhere in the middle though...
i also read "The Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel.(a gift from Daphne!!) ...this book was better, stopped somewhere near the end(Daphne u should be happy to hear that)..
as well as "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren..this book fared the worst..couldn't go pass the 3rd chapter i think (coz i din have time lar..only held the book for one day) =p

quote Florence:
"God isn't bad. If He was, I wouldn't be typing this... He'd probably zapped me and sent me to hell for all my sins if He were bad, but I'm still here!"

yeah but the problem is, if He were to zap u then none of us will be here..
.
.
.
lol...but actually..
u could argue it both ways..
God is bad..By not punishing the murderers who have killed good ppl..by not zapping them...by letting innocent, good ppl get killed, while the murderers get away scot-free...God has actually proven himself to be their accomplice..

since both ways are logical,
I could say that God doesn't care most of the time..maybe like us, He can't multitask that well, or He might just be lazy...which is why like us, he created a set of laws...physical rules, the laws of nature, the laws of physics..(much like how we created AI - by putting in a set of laws, logics...)
and let it run on auto-pilot..

maybe he really created life..
but he invented evolution too so that life itself can run on auto-pilot..

maybe 2000 years earlier..
He really intervened in our world..but then He got busy left us to 自身自灭
maybe now he's intervening in another world..trying to create another life...we might be like the obsolete computers that we just dump into the storeroom..
maybe to Him..
we're like probably 486, and now he's creating a dual-core...

maybe..just maybe..

quoting rachel..
但到最后还是只有或许。。。
.
.
.
.
so i guess i better go back to my work =p
at least thats more productive =p
.
.
.
.
.
btw,

thinking about "what ifs" is fun...
which is probably y i'm so uncertain about my life, my future...unlike you, florence.

oh and florence..i'm just daydreaming out loud..
so if u find it fun to ramble back..
or u find it fun to rebutt me..feel free!!
and thanks for all your long comments
=p

but if u're doing it becoz u feel u have the responsibility to do it since u're a Christian..
then well....i'm sorry =<

p.s Do u think that I can go down to hell and make it a better place??

coz come to think of it, we could turn a desert into Las Vegas, eventually we could even turn Moon, or Mars into Disneyland..
how come we can't turn Hell into a livable place?? =p
has anyone thought of this question??
or will our souls lose the ability to think and act rationally when we die??

CONVERSIONS

read this article bout religious conversions

"......those people usually believe their religion is the “right” one – the One True Religion. They think their doctrines are the true doctrines and their God is the real God, and all others are wrong. Such a view makes two assumptions that I reject.

The first assumption is that an omnipotent and omnipresent entity such as God/Allah – or Brahma, or the Tao, or the Trikaya – can be completely understood by human intellect, and that this perfect understanding can be expressed in words to form doctrines that transmit this perfect understanding to others with unfailing accuracy.

And I say that’s nonsense. I say no doctrines of any religion, including mine, are the complete truth. All fall short of perfect understanding. All are frequently misunderstood. The truest doctrines are just pointers, shadows on a wall, or a hand pointing to the moon.

At the same time, it may be that most of the doctrines of most of the world’s religions reflect some small part of a great and absolute truth, so they aren’t necessarily false, either. As Joseph Campbell may have said, all religions are true. You just have to understand what they are true of."

well its true...we are after all merely humans..what the prophets, what the doctrines say may after all be a slight deviation from God's actual word..and then the word is spread, and so on and so forth...and in the end, the truths and the lies are all mixed together, and in the end we just need to find out what is true to ourselves...

i luv this phrase:
“Do not be idolatrous about or bound to any doctrine, theory, or ideology, even those of your own religion. They are merely guiding means; they are not the absolute truth.”

In the end, if no matter how good a person we are, or how big a service we make to humanity, we will still be damned/not be saved/go to hell/suffer eternity...unless we become part of a particular religion...I'll rather go to hell(if there was one)....I don't think heaven will be a good place with such a authoritative, merciless, cruel and unfair ruler..

Disappointed

I'm disappointed with myself...
just can't seem to break into my vicious cycle of procrastinations, delays, slacking-ness and eventually.. failures...just can't seem to find the determination to change my life...just can't seem to find the courage to do what i want to do..

Maybe I am born with a silver spoon in my mouth...(in my case, i guess its more like i'm born with a stainless steel spoon in my mouth though)

heck, I can't even decide what i want to do...
oh well, lol...uncertainty breeds instability, which breeds chaos, which breeds anarchy, which breeds change, which breeds a wave of fresh air, which breeds excitement, which breed vibrancy, which breeds...I dunno....creative destruction?

Anyway, remember our Economics? One of the pre-requisite for growth is that structural rigidities must be minimized to promote the mobility of factors of production...

So maybe I need to be more mobile??go to where the demand for me is high..i wonder if there exist such a place though..

But to be fair to myself, I really do enjoy slacking, and delaying...at least people won't have that high an expectation of myself right??

我好像是吃不到葡萄的狐狸....
