The Forbidden Experiment

The Forbidden Experiment has been used to describe the idea of bringing up a child in isolation, to see what, if anything, he or she acquired in the way of language, and possibly other attributes we associate with humankind. Much of the interest in feral children by the scientific community is because of what they can teach us that we cannot ethically learn by experimentation..

well due to all the comments from jensen and justin, i became interested myself, and so i googled the subject and found out alot of stuff...follow the link!!

  • Some forum that i found out
" Some controversial experiments got performed on baby monkeys a while back which showed that if kept in isolation from a very young age they would develop schizophrenia, be incapable of loving parenthood (one monkey ate her own baby, another ignored it, another killed it deliberately) and incapable of social interactions, always submissive and timid.
I believe I even read that babies were shown to need other people to show them emotions and facial expressions or they'd never develop them, as from a young age we examine other people's faces to learn the "correct" way to respond to a situation or feeling. Babies can even die from lack of touch.
And the vulnerability of our young preordains social protectiveness and clustering around babies. We take such a long time to grow up that most people (excluding murderous paedophiles, of course) show protective feelings towards a child even if it's not their own, and will take pains to help a child separated from his or her parents because of our inherent desires to help the survival of our young.
Also, social nature is protection - safety in numbers, anyone?"
So yes, I think the social nature of humans is an instinct to sustain relationships with others that we're born with."
